Congratulations to our brilliant mathematics students who competed in the 2024 Euclid Mathematics Contest. Their hard work led Western to be ranked the #1 school in Alberta (by a large margin) for this contest, and ranked #11 in Canada. There were 1810 competing schools, and over 27,000 students competing in the Contest.
We had over 30 students compete, and the students listed below have earned certificates of distinction. If you teach or see these students, please congratulate them for earning recognition from the Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing at the University of Waterloo for their achievement:
Paul W.
Yichen L.
Paul D.
Jack N.
Edward X.
Yifei Y.
Ivy C.
Allen G.
And a huge congratulations to Paul W, who scored 97 in this contest, achieving the 8th-highest score in all of Canada, and winning a $200 cash prize. This is the highest score from our school since 2011.
The Euclid competition is one of the most important Mathematics contests hosted in Canada. Many of our students will highlight their performance in this contest to bolster their University applications and is required for entry into some programs at the University of Waterloo.
