Good Afternoon,

We are so excited to welcome your student to Western Canada High School for the 2025-2026 school year!

CBE Account Set-Up Support

Students who do not have a CBE account (needed to access PowerSchool / their course schedule) are welcome to come to Western on Thursday, August 28th from 9AM to 3PM in the library. Any students who completed the last school year at a CBE school already have a CBE account. Only students new to the CBE will require support to set up their CBE account.

Parents/legal guardians of students new to the school who do not have a CBE account (needed to access PowerSchool / fees etc) are welcome to come to Western on Thursday, August 28th from 9AM to 3PM, in the main office. Ms. Hanley will help with account set up for anyone experiencing issues.

Schedules & Courses

Today is the last day to request a schedule change or to take an online course via CBe-learn using the online forms available here. Students can come in person to student services to request changes to their schedule from August 28 – September 8 on a first come, first served basis. For the month of September, student services will be open for walk in appointments. Times are Monday - Thursday from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, 1:15 pm - 3: 45 pm and Friday from 8:30 am - 12:00, 12:30 pm - 2:00pm.

Student Photos

Student photos for all grades will be taken on Thursday, August 28th in the main gym from 9AM to 3PM. All students who are able to stop by to have their photo taken are encouraged to come; after their photo is taken, students will receive their student ID card. If students are unable to have their photo taken on August 28th, there will be another opportunity in mid-September.

Student Tours

Student-led tours will occur on Tuesday, August 26th for any students who would like to get more familiar with the building prior to the first day of school. Tours will run every half hour beginning at 10AM (10AM, 10:30AM, 11AM, etc.). The last tour will begin at 3PM.

Student New to the CBE - IPPs/Accommodations

If your student is new to the CBE this year and requires accommodations to support success and learning, please connect with Julie Dixon (IPP Coordinator) via email at jadixon@cbe.ab.ca to share diagnosis documentation and learning needs. If your student is coming to high school from a CBE school, their coding and IPP have remained on file - you will receive a message from Ms. Dixon in the days to come.

Sport Tryouts

First Day of School

The first day of school for all grades is Tuesday, September 2nd. Grade 10s are to arrive at 9:15AM, while Grade 11s and 12s are asked to arrive at 11:30AM. Students are asked to log in to PowerSchool to view their schedule prior to the first day of school. We will follow a Tuesday/Thursday schedule. The BBQ lunch is for Grade 10s only.
