Individual Program Plan Families – June IPP

Please expect the Final IPP document to be sent home with your student Monday June 9th. We are required to obtain signature pages for compliance purposes. Please return the signed signature page (under 4th/Final Review section), and have your student drop it off in the main office during exams.

Student Services Survey

We are seeking your feedback to help us improve the Student Services supports offered at Western Canada High School. We invite you to complete a short survey about your experiences and perspectives related to Student Services. Your responses are completely anonymous, and the information collected will be used solely to inform and improve our work with students in areas such as academic guidance, career and post-secondary planning, Individual Program Plan development, and various supports available outside of academic teaching.

You can use the QR code, or the following link, to access the survey, https://forms.gle/rBYvpWcykkWTmz2j8

The survey will remain open until May 26th, and we encourage you to share your thoughts with us during this time.

Photo ID – June Exams

Students writing 30-level exams in June who do not have photo ID are asked to visit the Main Office to pick up their school ID before the end of May. Having photo identification is required on exam days, and picking it up in advance will help prevent delays and ensure a smooth check-in process.

Calgary High School Mathematics Competition

Western is hosting the first Calgary High School Mathematics Competition, an inter-school team-based mathematics contest on May 30 after school.  Students of all grades are invited and do not need a team to register.  Students who are interested can see Mr. Hunchak in room 102A during tutorial hours.

The Choral Program’s Year-End Concert: All Together We Are Love

Wednesday, May 28th, 7:00pm, Knox United Church

Featuring music that reflects the diverse backgrounds of our students alongside Canadian music and a few other favourites there's something for everyone to enjoy. Bollywood? Yes. Jazz? Obviously. A student composition in Yoruba? Of course. Acadian folk music? Also yes. Classical Mandarin Chinese? Why not?

Tickets are just $20 at the door. We’d love to see you there!

Honour Society Celebration

Honour Society Celebration will occur this Monday evening in the main gym.  Students who wish to attend should have RSVP’d, but late RSVP’s can still be accepted.  If a student decides not to attend after they have already RSVP’d, please email serivers@cbe.ab.ca so that the certificate can be pulled.

Students who cannot attend on Monday may start picking up certificates on Tuesday in the main foyer at lunch.  Tuesday will be for Grade 10’s only; Wednesday for Grade 11’s, and Thursday for Grade 12’s.  The following week, anyone can pick up any day at lunch.

The optional Honour Society celebration will take place on Monday, May 26th from 7-8 pm in the main gym.  Families are welcome.  Students who cannot attend can pick up their certificates AFTER the celebration in the main foyer at lunchtime.

If students wish to attend: Please fill out the quick RSVP form (no form required for students who cannot attend but still wish to pick up their certificate after).  Grade 12’s will fill out the 2nd half of the form in addition to the RSVP.  https://forms.gle/xnPiCkAkTvX1BdXp8

Grade 12 – Optional Lifetime Honour Society Medallions:  $20 for students who qualified in Grades 10, 11, and 12.  These can be purchased through the Business Office before May 26th if you wish to receive it at the event (but can also be purchased after the event).  *Lifetime Honour Society is not the same as the Western Canada College Honour Society – inductees for that award are chosen by committee and awarded at the Academic Awards evening.

IB Transcripts / IB Results

Students who wrote IB exams this year need a personal code and PIN to access their results in July.  Please email serivers@cbe.ab.ca if you have not yet received it.  Grade 12’s should also email Ms. Rivers with their university/college choice(s) before the end of June as IB will send transcripts for free if requests are made before results are issued.
