Updates For the Week
A big congratulations to Western’s choir who put on an amazing concert this past Thursday at Knox United Church. The event was well attended. The students did a wonderful job and a very well deserved thank you to Liz Paynter for all the work that went into make the night spectacular. We are all looking forward to this week’s Art Gallery Showing on Wednesday and of course our annual Winter Band Concert at the Jack Singer Concert Hall this Thursday! Fine Arts students will also be looking forward to the Winter Wonderball on Friday.
Basketball season has been well underway and our students enjoyed an action packed tournament in Cardston this weekend. Congratulations to the girl’s team, who won bronze and the boy’s win in the consolation final. In regular league play, the Senior Boys won both their games this past week against All Saints and EP Scarlett. The Jr. Boy’s won their game again EP Scarlett and both the Senior and Junior Girl’s won against Joane Cardinal Shubert. We look forward to this week’s games and hosting our upcoming Wrestling Quad Meet this Wednesday.

Post Secondary Information
University of Victoria – Discover UVic – Prospective students are invited to attend virtual information sessions to learn all about all that the University of Victoria has to offer. Topics covered will include campus life and housing to hands-on learning and what it means to relocate to Victoria. These events are scheduled on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 6 p.m. MST and on January 18, 2024 at 7 p.m. MST. Scholarship and Bursary Information
The Schulich Leader Scholarship
A Schulich Leader is a student who has been selected by one of 20 partner universities to receive $120,000 or $100,000 to pursue an undergraduate degree in STEM. In addition to this large financial award, they join an elite network and benefit from student enrichment opportunities throughout the year. Schulich Leaders are entrepreneurial-minded and exemplify academic excellence AND leadership, creativity and charisma, with strong consideration for financial need. Our Schulich Leaders are pursuing careers in technology, engineering, entrepreneurship and business enterprise, and applied scientific research. Burns Memorial Fund
High School Diploma Preparation Assistance
This program is for students requiring financial assistance with costs related to registering for diploma preparation courses. Please submit applications at least two weeks prior to the course start date.

High School Bursary Program
This program is for Calgary high school students who are within two semesters of graduating from grade 12 and who are at risk of dropping out of school for financial reasons. basic living allowance is provided to assist students in covering expenses such as rent, food and transportation. Attendance and marks are monitored monthly. Students require a referral from their high school counsellor and are interviewed by our grants manager.
