Hello to our Western families
Our Student Conferences are taking place next week, with two formal opportunities available – in person on Thursday night and online on Friday morning. We recognize that there is value in connecting with teachers no matter how your child i s doing, but we also have limited spots available ( 42 time slots) for individual teachers who often have 95 - 115 students). If your student is doing quite well in a particular subject, then perhaps consider leaving a spot for somebody who might need a bit more - or wait a few days before booking to allow more of those parents with more pressing reasons to get in.
On a separate note, we're seeing more students coming in late after lunch. We have this great location along 17th Avenue, with many places to eat/sit, which obviously lends itself to enjoying the break but which also contribute to some delays. We have asked our students as of this morning to be more cognizant of this issue, but we're also going to be supporting our teachers who are too often interrupted with their lessons by allowiing them to shut their doors more more quickly after the bell. (They’ll get to the late comers when it's convenient.) If your child is marked ‘late’ for class i n MyCBE, please talk to them about increasing their urgency to be on time. Thanks for your support with this.
Thank you,
Darrin Whitbread, Principal | Western Canada High School
